Lee was born to James and Nadia Rand of Old Town in 1949. His early years were spent in Bangor, where he excelled in baseball and was twice chosen for the Bangor West and Bangor East Little League all stars teams. He attended Abraham Lincoln School, and Fifth Street Junior High, where he held his first sock hop in the fall of 1962.

His family moved to Old Town in 1963. He formed his first rock ‘n roll band , Lee & The Levitations, in 1965, and they performed all over the greater Bangor area during his high school years.

Lee graduated from Old Town High School in 1967 and he also graduated from EMVTI and attended the University of Maine.

He started his own mobile DJ service in the 1970’s, and performed all over northern Maine at class reunions, wedding receptions and various night clubs.

He soon was recruited by WLKN radio in Lincoln, and over the next decade his Solid Gold radio show soon became the #1 rated radio show north of Bangor.

Lee married Connie Stockley in 1986, and together they formed Rand Advertising in 1988.

After Lee left WLKN he broadcast his show on several internet venues, including the platform at amazon.com!

Lee has now retired completely from broadcasting and Connie is now handling the advertising business and selling her paintings.
Because he thought he could make a difference, and at the urging of many townspeople, he ran for a one-year term on the Lincoln Town Council on a promise not to vote for any more property tax increases. He won the election and kept his promise not to vote for increase in property taxes.

Although initially reluctant to run for re-election, he was convinced there was still work to be done, and he threw his hat into the ring again!
